What we're up against: Ban cyclists' from PCH
Every so often someone makes a comment on a really old post. Usually it’s someone who just discovered the blog, and is bouncing around in the archives. Occasionally though, it’s someone who imbibed too much haterade, like Scot’s response to an ancient post on issues on PCH:
The best way to make it safe for cyclist to ride on PCH is to outlaw it.
The real safty [sic] issue is for the residents who drive PCH everyday, and have to deal with inconciderate [sic] cyclist who ride in such large packs it makes it impossible to drive around them. So we’re faced with driving in the left lane wich [sic] causes other issues as well.
Just outlaw the use of PCH for cycling and we are all a lot safer.
Outlaw PCH!
Outlaw riding on it too! Ha ha.
This is what we’re up against.

Maybe they didn’t get the memo that PCH in many stretches, including the one through Malibu, is part of the official Pacific Coast Bicycle Route, traversing the coast of California from North to South.
Why does Scot keep referring to cyclists as “cyclist”?
Does he view the entire cycling community as one single collective entity devoid of any individual identities?
Kind of like the Borg in Star Trek.
I’m one of those people bouncing around. I just had this argument with a friend on Saturday. She was trying to say the same thing: that cyclists should stay off of PCH. Thanks, Gary! The next time I see her, I’m going to tell her about it being part of the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route. Is there anywhere I can cite that from?
