VLOG: Week In Review, 8/23-8/29

I thought I’d give you a run down of some of what I was up to, and what others were up to last week, vlog style, 10 minutes!

I’ve never done a vlog (video blog) before, so I welcome your input.  There’s so many things in a week of bike work that I would love to write about, that I wish I had the time to write about, that I can’t.  So, this is a way to share some of those with you, and also give a personal angle on some of the stories that do get reported.

  1. Thanks for the video update. A great addition to the already great stuff you’ve been putting out there for the cycle community. Can’t wait to see/hear more.

  2. Yeah, the format works really well for covering all the smaller items that might not warrant a full blog post. Nice. But your bike lane sign seems to be backwards… MirrorWorld!

  3. I just avoided Wilshire between Federal and Veteran accept from 2am to 5am. It would need something like an elevated or an underground bike path where the 405 entrance and exit ramps are for it to be safe for cycling.

The vlogs are good idea btw.

  4. great to connect, im a daily cyclist good to keep on whats happening for us cyclists in the big city here. dang more & more of us keep getting hit by cars.

  5. Right now, getting to UCLA from the East is less fun than from the West. With this 405 expansion bullsh** in the works, getting to UCLA from the West side could become the bigger problem. Wilshire near the 405 is already fairly nightmarish for cyclists.

Expanding freeways in a declining city is a baaad idea when motorization is one of the major reasons for its decline. Let the onslaught of comments from narrow-minded people begin!

  6. Glad y’all think these vlogs are a good idea.

The 405 thing is heating up, but I’m stoked that the cycling movement is finally able to put up a fight on these sort of things. Box deserves a lot of credit on this one for developing access and relationships at CalTrans.

  7. I hope late is better than never b/c I wanted to tell you I really enjoyed this format. Lots of info in less time than it would take me to read, and possibly re-read a blog… I’m easily distracted :/ Also, it’s more personal, more engaging, I like it! Looking forward to more of these!!
