Poll: Alex is Writing Weekly for an LA Times Blog Now. Also Post That Writing Here?
Ridazz,
I’ve been invited to write once a week for an LA Times Blog on green living: Emerald City. Thanks Siel! I’ll be writing articles about bike culture, biking in LA, and bike activism for the uninitiated. You, my readers, are already initiated, so I wonder if you’d be interested in what I’m writing over there? Maybe not. Maybe yes.
Please take this poll. I’ll do whatever y’all indicate. If you read Westside BikeSIDE with a reader and don’t see the poll please visit the website. To get a sense for what I’ll be writing please check out my introductory post for Emerald City: “Cyclists Are Your Friends!”
I love you guys, and I’ll have a two part CRANK Mob Recap for you on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by a short post on what’s going on in April, and hopefully a post on some hard activism soon. Sorry there hasn’t been more recently, but I came down with some nasty bug. Ride hard!

look who’s gone corporate.
I voted no because I’m not a fan of redundant “dual posting,” especially verbatim. If you’d had a vote option that was something like “Post from here about a new article appearing on Emerald City, with a link to it” I’d be yessing that all over the place.
@david p.
Man, I wish I’d gone corporate. LA Times pays there full time bloggers pretty well. Unfortunately I’m just guest posting = no $$.
@Will
It’s not good for search engine rankings either = search engines punish you for duplicate content.
When I do (should I say “did”…it has been over a month) posts at Emerald City, I posted a brief summary and a link to the Em.City piece over at Street Heat. I haven’t done one since Streetsblog, but this is an excellent reminder that I really should…
And congrats on the Em City gig, it’s a great website and it will benefit from having your voice.
No, no, pls, no more Alex Thompson cutesy pro-cycling rants. Keep it separated. “ooh look at us, we’re so cute and cuddly, hug a cyclists when you see one!” <- that type of stuff stays at Emerald Whole Foods Green Blog. All the hardcore cyclist smack talk stay here on WestSideBikeSide. Capisci?
Hmmm, so far 8 for, 4 against, and 4 sort of against. I think I may adopt Damien’s approach.
I would love to see a short summary with a link to Emerald City.
