CRANK MOB was double awesome. All the CRANK faithful have speculated what warmer temperatures would bring, and we were right to do so. The ride was super CRANKY, as in awesome and epic.
CRANK MOB has a new Vimeo channel.
Warning: video ID not specified! The start of the ride was pure madness. Marcus had covered himself with a trashbag coated with chocolate icing and was running around as the Mr Hanky of CRANK MOB. Jump roping, fixie tricks, dancing in full effect . . . and the crowd chanted “FUZZ MOB” in honor of FuzzBeast obtaining his MFA earlier that day.
The above photo shows Fuzz Beast (see if you can find him) and others dancing in the back of truck at CRANK Mob. That’s right, a pick up truck playing Daft Punk pulled up and let people pile in back and dance for at least twenty minutes. The truck shocks were completely compressed. Those guys, whoever they were, were awesome. You can see more pics in Gary Se7en’s CRANK MOb flikcr photo set.
Warning: video ID not specified! Before that we crashed, 400 of us, the SaMoHi prom at the Beverly Hilton, looking for our favorite SaMoHi Rida – Owen Gorman. The Beverly Hills PD arrived and shooed us out, but it was epic for a moment. I thought both the LAPD and Beverly Hills PD were great during this ride – they would show up, we took it as our cue to move elsewhere, and that was it. That’s how it should be – no antagonism or tickets – just be safe and keep moving.
Warning: video ID not specified! There were humongous fireworks all night – you could hear a thump down the block when they shot off. Awesome. Someone got concussed and broke his collarbone. Not awesome. Don’t take big rides down big hills, that’s just too much big, and it always ends in tears. In the end we finished at CRANK MOB park in Culver City, and a good time was had by all.

It ended at the park in Culver City? I went home right before that. Was a great ride though.
