International Ride Hall of Fame declares ROB0101110TZ an early contender for admission
Have you heard of the International Ride Hall of Fame? No? Well, they’re a completely fictional entity which I invented because the ROB0101110TZ ride (Sara Bond’s Flickr set) was such a success. We rode all over LA, and had an awesome time. What’s more, it was a totally unique experience.
New blogger and Bikerowave mechanic JB was so pumped that he left the ride at 3am, rode home, and wrote up an excellent recap and posted it at 5am. I imagine he wrote his post while still wearing his tin foil tunic from the ride.
Not me. I went home at 5am, showered, put neosporin on my cuts and scrapes, and slept till 2 in the afternoon. I had a little crash on the ride, not because it was that kind of ride, but because I’m clumsy.
Don’t get me wrong, it was that kind of ride. Epic squared. We did things no mass style ride has ever done. We rode through South Central, and everyone cheered us on. We stopped at Ralph’s on Slauson & Crenshaw and made tin foil hats for everyone. We rode around the upperlevel of LAX with over 70 riders in the dead of night. We partied on top of a parking structure with security guards, and we went to Cinco De Mayo. HANDBONE fell in poison ivy. We had a push up contest, sort of. And some people, I heard, made it a roundtrip by returning to CRANK MOB PARK to color in the sidewalk bricking with chalk until the sun came up.
It’s a ride that couldn’t have happened without the CRANK spirit that so many people have worked to tease out of the Westside. JAZ and KNITTENS – thanks for a great ride.
Mark your calendars – next month ROB0101101TZ is on the 9th.
