I'm running for Mar Vista Community Council
There will be some new guest bloggers around the place in the coming weeks, but if some writer comes in and says “I this, I that” without stating who they are, you probably know it’s me, Alex. For instance, they might say “I’m running for Community Director of Mar Vista Community Council.”
They might also tell you that if you:
- Live in Mar Vista, or
- Work in Mar Vista, or
- Own Property in Mar Vista, or
- Claim a stake in Mar Vista
then you can vote for me on April 11th, at the Mar Vista Recreation Center. For instance, you could probably claim a stake in Mar Vista if you were a volunteer in good standing at an organization located in Mar Vista, such as . . . wait for it . . . Bikerowave!
Anyway, I may be running unopposed, which would be rad in a way, because it would mean less campaign work, more real work. I’ll keep y’all posted, and thanks to all of you for be encouraging and inspirational!

Ivan, I hold the door for you if you bring the donuts! Let’s show em how runners eat!
You’ve got my endorsement.
Hell yeah!!!
That’s great news! We need more attention to bike related matters in the Councils. I’d like to point out that my wife, Xochitl, and I are running for the West Los Angeles Neighborhood Council on a bike and pedestrian friendly platform. So, if you bike and walk in West LA, or would like to see more opportunities to do so and you live or work in the WLANC district, please drop by April 11 and vote for us.
Dope! It would be great to talk bikes with you or Xochitl sometime = we need a WLA bike cabal! Bundy village, ugh.
