Fun AWESOME events & rides for March

By Alex Thompson

What’s hip? What’s cool? “Maybe Alex knows” I can hear you thinking.

Wrong. I don’t know. However, I do have an idea about what’s gonna be super awesome rubber ducky bubble bath fun in March, and here it is: CRANK Mob (3/22), Los Angelopes (3/1), and Friday’s Leap Year Venice Critical Mass (2/29!)

And what’s important: The Shape the Future Tranportation Workshop in Santa Monica this Saturday (3/1).

Fun:

  • CRANK Mob: There’s a good chance CRANK Mob will be on this list for the rest of my life. I cry it’s so fun. Srsly. March’s CRANK Mob will be Saturday March 22nd, meeting at 9:30pm at Sawtelle & LaGrange in LA. Bring your fun bones, and we’ll wrestle, dance, and skip rope till we’re beat

.

  • Los Angelopes: Los Angelopes are the new freak bike riding gang in West LA. They ride crazy tall bikes and little tiny bikes. Hugs, giraffe calls, and animal masks are the new hotness. Watch out for Pizza WOLF – Saturday, March 1st, meeting at 8pm, riding at 9pm, from the Trader Joe’s parking lot a Sepulveda & Palms.
  • February 29th, Venice Critical Mass: What’s hot in March? Events in February. Venice Critical Mass is everything Santa Monica Critical Mass, a chill relazed ride, left to it’s on devices, police free. I love Venice Critical Mass, and if that means I’m a sexual deviant, then so be it. Friday, February 29th, meeting at 7:30pm at Windward Circle in Venice.

Important:

  • Transportation Workshop in Santa Monica: Santa Monica is updating their Land Use & Circulation Element, including setting the direction of bicycle improvements for the next million years. Right now the results are mixed. On the one hand they’re planning on improving the bicycle network (what network?) On the other hand they’re going to exclude bikers from planning for Wilshire Blvd and others. Let’s make it known that bikers own Santa Monica! Saturday, March 1st from 10am to 2pm, at SaMoHi.

March is gonna be great. Let’s CRUSH IT!!
