CicLAvia Kickstarter!

Since March 22nd, two days after the LA Marathon, I’ve been training.  I’ve run 1,429.8 miles, all of them in preparation for the Long Beach Marathon.  But then when I heard that the Long Beach Marathon is the same day as CicLAvia – October 9th – I said screw the marathon, I’m going to CicLAvia.  Why?  Because it’s awesome, because Bikeside will be there in spades, and because I’m not tough enough to run a marathon and do CicLAvia in the same day.

It’s gonna be rad.  To help it be more rad you can kick $$ for CicLAvia events at Kickstarter, where CicLAvia is raising money to make it a badder and radder event than in April.

Now this is where it gets complicated.  Bikeside is also raising money – we’re raising funds to support our general operation, and to support our work on elections.  Right now we’re working on the special City Council election in Council District 15.  We’re pushing those candidates hard to commit their support for CicLAvia, and come out to the October 9th event.  In the end, we think this push will be a game changer, redefining the politics of City Council to be far more supportive of open streets events.

So donate to support CicLAvia, or donate to support Bikeside, or donate toward both – it all helps get the job done!

  1. Well I for one think your priorities are in the right place. But I for one also know that if you reeeeaaaaallly wanted to you could kick ass at the LBC marathon and still get back uptown in time to roll CicLAvia3 for a spell. You’d be exhaustified afterward, but I say this as one who did both the LA Marathon bike tour AND the marathon (walking) a couple times. If I can rock such craziness, you could too.

  2. Ha ha – no way Will! After I crossed the finish line in the LA Marathon I stopped running and probably within 60 seconds I couldn’t run a step, my legs were so locked up.

You know who did that double and ran the race was Matt Ruscigno – he did the Acura bike tour then ran the marathon I think.

I couldn’t do what you or Matt did = requires twice as much stubbornness as I have.
