Alex on Emerald City – The DIY Bike Community

I wrote a piece for Emerald City Wednesday, which is much less fluffy than the other pieces.  It’s a downright rant, so if you like that sort of thing then go read it.  Here’s a quote:

 The only reasonable way to interpret the city’s inaction is as a  collective “Go **** Yourself” to cyclists.  Punk rock til the end, cyclists irreverently flipped this, and interpreted it as “Do It Yourself!”  And so a large segment of cyclists have found new and innovative ways to make progress without the cooperation of local government.
