3 letters means more blogging – a bad photo of my refridgerator

By Alex Thompson

I added 3 letters to my name on Monday.  3 new letters in my alphabet means 11% more blogging for y’all.  Actually, I hope it will mean more, but I’m having trouble striking the right balance between doing and documenting.

Alex T, PhD

  1. Congrats! When’s the hooding ceremony?

  2. Oh, great…now we have to call you Dr. Alex?????

No, seriously, congratulations! That’s one hell of an accomplishment — take some time to relax and enjoy it.

  3. congratulations dr. alex magillcutty thompson.

that is a great accomplishment, you deserve to celebrate.

and i know you must relish the opportunity to introduce yourself as Dr. Thompson to the BAC and T-Comm meetings.

  4. Thanks y’all!

Siel – I have no idea. I’m hoping to do it in June, or I should say that my Mom is hoping I do it in June. Is it weird for you still? I find it to be very weird – your authority goes up instantly . . . even though you’re the same.

BikinginLA – I’m definitely taking a few weeks easy . . . but come the New Year, expect Alex T to be in full force again.

David – magillicutty – ha ha ha! Do you think it would make a difference? ’cause I think it’s sort of dorky!

  5. Congrats Dr. Thompson! Glad they sent you the right degree. When Kelly graduated UCSD accidentally sent her a diploma in theater instead of art. Don’t matter, I suppose, since neither will get you a gig, unlike math.

And judging from your degree, I’m guessing that the middle name is a number? Formula? Algorithm?

  6. I know I’m two weeks late, but congrats Dr. T!

  7. Congrats on the degree and thanks for the link to my snownami post. I just found your blog recently but you’ve got some great stuff here. I will be linking to your blog on mine as soon as I get around to posting again.
    keep doing what you do.
    Jeff
